Sports Massage in Edinburgh

If running, cycling, golf, gym training or an active lifestyle leaves you feeling tight and restricted, Pailin’s Thai-style approach combines focused massage with assisted stretching to support mobility, recovery and post-training comfort.

This is Thai-style massage and assisted stretching for active bodies, not clinical sports therapy. Every appointment is personally delivered by Pailin and adapted to how your body feels on the day.

What Is Assisted Stretching?

When you stretch by yourself, you have to create the position, control the movement and often use your own muscles to hold it.

With assisted stretching, Pailin does more of that work for you.

She supports and moves your body through comfortable stretches while you relax as much as possible. That can allow you to explore positions and angles that are difficult to reach on your own, particularly around areas such as the hips, hamstrings, shoulders and back.

Because you are not trying to hold the position yourself, you can concentrate on relaxing and breathing while Pailin controls the pace and range of the stretch.

Nothing should feel forced. The stretching is adapted to your flexibility, comfort and how your body feels that day.

Your Appointment

A runner, cyclist and gym user can all arrive feeling tight in completely different places.

Pailin begins by asking about the activity you do, which areas feel most worked and what you would like from the session. She then adapts the pressure, massage techniques and assisted stretching around those priorities.

One appointment might focus more on tired legs and hips; another might spend more time on the back, shoulders or upper body.

The work needs a warm-up, a sequence of stretches and time to talk through how your body has been feeling.

Who Is It Best For?

Runners

Running can leave the calves, thighs and hips feeling heavily worked. Pailin can focus massage and assisted stretching around the areas that feel tight after regular miles or harder training.

Cyclists

Time in the saddle can leave the legs, hips, back and shoulders feeling stiff. A recovery-focused session can be adapted around the areas that feel most restricted after riding.

Gym Users

Strength training, fitness classes and regular gym sessions can leave muscles feeling heavy or tight. Sports Massage gives you focused time to work on those areas and include stretching as part of your wider recovery routine.

Golfers, walkers, hillwalkers, people who play recreational sport and anyone with a physically active lifestyle are equally welcome. You do not need to think of yourself as an athlete.

What Sports Massage Can Support

Clients commonly choose this treatment as part of a wider routine for:

  • post-training recovery
  • easing feelings of muscular tightness
  • maintaining comfortable movement
  • mobility and flexibility
  • relaxation after demanding physical activity
  • keeping an active body feeling looked after

Massage works best alongside the basics that matter for recovery too, including appropriate rest, sleep, hydration and sensible training.

Sports Massage or Deep Tissue Massage?

The two treatments can both include firm, focused massage, but the emphasis is different.

Choose Sports Massage when your main reason for booking is an active lifestyle and you want massage combined with Thai-style assisted stretching for mobility, recovery and post-training tightness.

Choose Deep Tissue Massage when your priority is firm, focused massage for muscular tightness and you are less interested in the sports or stretching element.

If the distinction still feels unclear, ask Pailin. She can help you choose before you arrange your appointment.

What Does It Feel Like?

Sports Massage at Sabaidee is focused rather than aggressive.

Some tight areas can feel tender. During the stretching parts of the treatment, Pailin may support and move your arms, legs or body while you stay relaxed.

The combination can feel quite different from a conventional oil massage because you are not simply lying still throughout the whole treatment.

You remain in control at all times. If a pressure or stretch feels too strong, tell Pailin and she will adjust it.

After Your Massage

Many clients find it helps to drink plenty of water, keep moving gently through the day, and leave a hard session or a long run for a day or two rather than training straight afterwards.

Some people feel looser straight away. Others notice it more the following morning. A little tenderness in the areas that were worked hardest is normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Most clients simply enjoy being active. Running, cycling, golf, gym training, walking, fitness classes and recreational sport can all leave the body feeling worked or tight.

The treatment is adapted to your activity and how your body feels, not to how competitive you are.

It also suits people who simply want to stay mobile as they get older. The stretching is assisted rather than something you perform, so you do not need to be flexible or fit to benefit from it.

Yes. Many people book it having never had a sports massage before, and quite a few have never had any massage before. Pailin will explain what she is doing as she goes. There is nothing you need to know or do beforehand.

No. Sabaidee’s approach is Thai-style massage and assisted stretching for mobility, recovery and post-training comfort. It is not a clinical sports therapy or physiotherapy service.

If you need an injury diagnosed, have persistent or unexplained pain, or need a rehabilitation programme, a physiotherapist or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional is the right person to see.

Pailin supports and moves your body through a comfortable stretch while you relax, rather than you having to create and hold the stretch yourself.

This can make some positions and angles easier to explore, because you are not simultaneously trying to hold your body in place.

Wear comfortable, flexible clothing that you can move easily in.

Thai assisted stretching is performed clothed, so sportswear, leggings, jogging bottoms, a T-shirt or similar comfortable clothing works well. Avoid restrictive clothing such as tight jeans where possible.

Pailin will explain anything else you need to know before the treatment begins.

It does not need to be. Pailin can work firmly where appropriate, but pressure and stretching are always adapted to your comfort.

If something feels too strong, simply say so and she will adjust it.

Massage does not permanently change posture by itself. Many clients notice they sit and stand more comfortably afterwards because tension has reduced, and assisted stretching can help if tight hips or shoulders are part of the problem. It works best alongside movement, strength work and the way you set up your desk or your bike.

There is no fixed schedule. Some clients book an appointment when training leaves them feeling particularly tight; others make massage and stretching a regular part of how they look after themselves.

Choose a frequency that fits your activity, body and budget rather than feeling you need to follow a prescribed treatment plan.

Appointments are arranged personally with Pailin.

Send her a message or get in touch through the contact details on the website, tell her the day or time that would suit you, and she will confirm what is available. This also gives you the chance to ask questions or check which treatment would suit you before you come in.
